Nazarbayev University School of Medicine Offers New Residency Programs
Nazarbayev University School of Medicine (NUSOM) is pleased to announce the launch of four new Residency Programs:
- Residency program in Anesthesiology and Critical Care
- Residency program in Orthopaedics and Traumatology
- Residency program in Radiology
- Residency program in Urology
Nazarbayev University aims to ensure and protect the health and security of everyone. The growing need in each of these areas for highly trained professionals has driven our decision to develop these above-mentioned programs in collaboration with the doctors of the “University Medical Center” Corporate Fund. “The students will be prepared by TOP educators who have their finger on the pulse of the industry, offering students real-world experience with practical application,” says Dr.Massimo Pignatelli.
The Residency Training Programs’ aim is to help each resident reach their full potential in terms of skill development. We accomplish this by providing in-depth didactic programs, a diverse range of clinical experiences, and exceptional teaching and mentoring. We also provide research opportunities at all levels of training. NUSOM graduates can confidently assume their places in academic or community practice and contribute successfully to the health care team.
The residency program in Anesthesiology and Critical Care
The residency program in Anesthesiology and Critical Care is a four-year program to train medical doctors to become Anesthesiologists and Critical Care specialists who are able to work in the hospital or outpatient settings.
By providing excellent clinical training and mentorship, our aim is to produce leaders in all realms of anesthesiology, including the operating room, intensive care unit, labor and delivery floor, and pain clinic. We develop and foster this leadership through discovery, translational research, implementation of evidence into practice, and dissemination of knowledge. Additionally, this program will offer the residents the opportunity to do clinical and translational research to educate physicians that will be able to undertake the academic career as well.
The residency program in Orthopaedics and Traumatology
The residency program in Orthopaedics and Traumatology is a five-year program aiming to prepare a fully educated, independent, enterprising, ethically responsible, creative, interested in scientific innovations, and nurturing democratic values specialist who is able to solve problems and work in a team fully.
The general aim of the program is to train a specialist orthopedic traumatologist who is able to provide qualified service within the competence and is able to apply the acquired knowledge, skills, and abilities to providing outpatient and inpatient orthopedic/trauma care in case of acute trauma, in case of orthopedic disease and pathology, in case of oncological diseases of the musculoskeletal system, to address the issues of diagnosis, treatment, prevention, hospitalization and rehabilitation of orthopedic diseases and traumatic injuries.
The residency program in Radiology
The residency program in Radiology is a five-year program. The general aim of the program is to train a specialist Radiologist who is able to provide qualified service within the competence and is able to apply the acquired knowledge, skills, and abilities providing outpatient and inpatient management in the visualization of diseases in Breast Radiology, Cardiac and Vascular Radiology, Chest Radiology, Emergency Radiology, Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology, Gynaecological and Obstetric Radiology, Head and Neck Radiology, Interventional Radiology, Musculoskeletal Radiology, Neuroradiology, Pediatric Radiology, Urogenital Radiology, Oncologic Imaging, Nuclear Medicine as basic training, Radiation Protection Education and Training Principles of Imaging Technology & Molecular Imaging, Principles of Medical Imaging Informatics, Communication and Management, Research and Evidence-Based Medicine.
The residency program in Urology
The residency program in Urology is a five-year program. The aim of NUSOM’s residency program is to train a specialist urologist who is able to provide qualified service within the competence and is able to apply the acquired knowledge, skills, and abilities to providing outpatient and inpatient management of urologic disease in the following domains: andrology, infertility, impotence, sexuality, calculus disease, neurourology, obstructive diseases, oncology, pediatric urology, endourology, ESWL, female urology, infectious diseases, renovascular diseases, surgery of the adrenal gland, renal transplantation, trauma, and urodynamics.
The application period is open until June 6, 2022.
