School of Medicine

The department is the second established at the Nazarbayev University School of Medicine. The School is led by Professor Massimo Pignatelli as its first Dean and started its MD program in August 2015 and an MPH program in August 2016. The Department of Medicine will be the largest department in the School with faculty members in all the main areas of medicine. Currently, it has international and local staff members specialized in Gastroenterology/Hepatology, General Practice, Hematology, Infectious Diseases, Nephrology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Oncology, Public Health, Radiology, Surgery, Urology.

The objectives of the Department are to provide quality teaching and research training to the graduate entry medical students, to contribute to excellent clinical care in the University Medical Center, and to develop internationally recognized research relevant to the country and the region.
